Rinku Singh Wiki, Age, Height, Net Worth 2026

Rinku Singh is an Indian cricketer who became a household name on 9 April 2023, when he hit five consecutive sixes in the final over against Gujarat Titans to steal an impossible Indian Premier League win for Kolkata Knight Riders in Ahmedabad. The left-handed finisher, retained by KKR for ₹13 crore ahead of the 2025 season, was named on 2 November 2026 in the India A squad for the ACC Men’s Rising Stars Asia Cup in Doha, where he will play under captain Tilak Varma alongside teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

Early Life

Rinku Singh was born on 12 October 1997 in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, according to his player profiles and tournament records, which made him 29 years old in November 2026. He grew up in a modest household as one of five brothers, with a younger sister, Neha. His father, Khanchand Singh, worked for years delivering LPG cylinders door to door for a local gas agency in Aligarh, and the family lived in a small two-room staff quarter provided by his employer. Rinku and his brothers often helped with the deliveries.

Cricket came to Rinku through local grounds rather than expensive academies. He played at a local club in Aligarh and, unable to afford club fees at first, practised at government facilities, while his mother, Veena Devi, backed him, reportedly even lending money for a local tournament. He broke into the Uttar Pradesh white-ball side in 2014 and built his reputation in domestic cricket with a huge Ranji Trophy season in 2018-19, when he scored 953 runs at an average of 105.88 with four centuries, as reported by domestic cricket records. That run put him firmly on IPL scouts’ radar.

Career

Kings XI Punjab, now Punjab Kings, bought him ahead of the 2017 season, but he did not play a match for the franchise. Kolkata Knight Riders signed him for ₹80 lakh at the 2018 auction, and he made his IPL debut that year, though chances were limited across his first few seasons. KKR bought him back for ₹55 lakh at the 2022 mega auction, and he finally got a run in the side, scoring 174 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 148.72.

The 2023 season changed everything. On 9 April 2023 at Ahmedabad, with KKR needing 29 runs off the final over against Gujarat Titans, Rinku took strike after a single off the first ball and smashed his Uttar Pradesh teammate Yash Dayal for five sixes off the last five balls to complete one of the great chases in IPL history. He finished the season as KKR’s highest run-scorer with 474 runs in 14 matches at an average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.53, with four half-centuries. KKR retained him for ₹13 crore ahead of the 2025 season.

International recognition followed within months of the five sixes. Rinku made his T20I debut for India against Ireland on 18 August 2023 under Jasprit Bumrah’s captaincy, and he made his ODI debut against South Africa in December 2023. He has been used by India mainly as a lower-middle-order finisher, the same role he fills for KKR. His selection for the India A squad for the Rising Stars Asia Cup, announced by the BCCI on 2 November 2026, keeps him in the national frame ahead of the tournament in Doha from 19 to 29 November 2026.

Personal Life

Rinku Singh is engaged to Priya Saroj, a Samajwadi Party MP from Machhlishahr in Uttar Pradesh, and the couple held their ring ceremony in Lucknow on 8 June 2025, as reported by Dainik Bhaskar and other outlets. Reports of a wedding date have changed several times since the engagement, with a September 2026 report in The Times of India putting a December 2026 wedding in Lucknow, but no confirmed date has been publicly announced as of November 2026.

He has bought a large bungalow in the city, reported to be worth around ₹3.5 crore, a sharp contrast with the two-room quarter he grew up in. He is known for his calm manner at the crease and his catchphrase “God’s plan”, which he has tattooed on his arm along with markings for the five sixes, as he explained in a video shared by the BCCI.
