Political Career
Basavaraj Bommai political career started in 1998 with joining of Janata Dal, when he was elected as MLC of Karnataka Dharwad constituency and also won in 2004 as MLC.
In February 2008, he left Janata Dal and join Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2008, he was elected as MLA from Shiggaon constituency in Haveri district and appointed as Minister for Water Resources. In 2018, he again elected for Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

On 27th July 2021, B.S. Yediyurappa resigned as Karnataka CM post and Basavaraj Bommai was elected as next CM of Karnataka. On 28th July 2021, he was sworn as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka.
