He did his schooling from local school of Jodhpur district. After completed secondary education, he got admission in MBM Engineering College (JNVU) in Jodhpur and he topped university graduated B.Tech with a gold medal in electronic and communications.
Thereafter, he completed his M.Tech from IIT Kanpur and after he cracked Indian Administrative Service Exam (IAS) with all-India 27th rank in 1994. He did his Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 2008.

Civil Service Officer
In 1994, he cracked IAS exam and joining civil service. He is appointed as a collector in Balaore and Cuttack district in Odisha. Till 2003, he was appointed as deputy secretary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Odisha. Ashwini Vaishnaw also worked in PM office.
Entrepreneur
After completed his MBA from Wharton Business School. He came back to India and joined GE Transportation (manufactures railroad equipment company) as Managing Director.
After quit GE Transportation, he joined next Siemens (largest manufacturing company in Europe) as the Vice President – Locomotives & Head Urban Infrastructure Strategy.
In 2012, Ashwini Vaishnaw quit the corporate sector and setup two private limited companies name Three Tee Auto Logistics Private Limited and Vee Gee Auto Components Private Limited units in Gujarat.
Political
His political career started in 2019 after won the Rajya Sabha election with the help of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha. After that, he was appointed as the member of Committee on Subordinate Legislation and Petitions and Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests.
Ashwini Vaishnaw argued many times in Parliament on the topic of country’s economic slowdown he said “country money is put in investment rather than putting money in consumption”.
On 5th December 2019, Ashwini Vaishnaw supported the Taxation Laws (Amendment Bill) in Rajya Sabha.
