Jussie Smollett started his acting career in his childhood and he first worked as an extra on the New York shot, movies named “Mo’ Better Blues” in 1990 and “New Jack City” in 1991. On 29 January 2019, an attack incident happened at about 2 AM. Smollett told police that he was attacked outside of his apartment building with the use of racial and homophobic slurs by two masked face attackers. Smollett was treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and then released in the morning.
On 31 January 2019, Jussie refused to give his phone to the police for investigation about the incident. Jussie gave a pdf of her mobile data to the police but the police again said that they wanted your phone. 14 February 2019, the two people of interest were arrested but not charged as suspects. The two people’s names are Obabinjo (Ola) and Abimbola (Abel) Osundairo who are brothers from Nigeria.
Police also seized some of the items in the home raid like an Empire Script, Receipts, Bleach, a red hat, and a black face mask. 17 February 2019, the police released the two brothers without any charge. The attorneys representing the actor assert in a release that Jussie Smollett is upset and profoundly affected by recent accounts suggesting that those responsible for the incident are people he knows.
They further express skepticism, stating it is inconceivable that the Osundairos might have been involved in the offense against Jussie or would have made false allegations about his involvement. On 21 February 2019, Jussie Smollett was arrested and Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson says that Smollett “took advantage of the anger and pain of racism to promote his career”.
The statement continues by asserting that the actor committed the act due to dissatisfaction with his salary. Law enforcement alleges that he not only sent a racist letter to himself at a Fox studio but also issued a $3,500 (£2,600) check to the Osundairo brothers to orchestrate the attack.
Then on 22 February 2019, Jussie was suspended from Empire and also added that the allegations against Jussie were “disturbing”. The TV Network Fox confirms Empire removed his character and also there were “no plans” for Smollett in Jamal’s character to return.
