Early

Revanth Reddy was a member of ABVP in his student life. He was elected as a ZPTC member from Midjil Mandal as an independent candidate (2006). He was also elected as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) as an independent candidate. After that, he met TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and joined the TDP.

MLA

He was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from Kodangal constituency as a TDP (46.46% Vote). He won against Gurunath Reddy (INC-5 times MLA). He served as MLA in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly (2009-2014), and in Telangana Assembly (2014-2018).

On 25 October 2017, TDP removed him, and after that in October 2017, he joined Congress. He was elected in the 2018 Telangana Assembly elections from Kodangai as an INC candidate and defeated BRS candidate Patnam Narender Reddy. He was selected as one of the three working presidents of TPCC.

Reddy was appointed as president of TPCC replacing N. Uttam Kumar Reddy (June 2021). He led the Congress campaigning against CM K. Chandrashekar Rao in 2023, with the party winning 64 seats, 4 seats past the majority mark. He won 3rd time from Kodangal constituency (2009, 2014, 2023).

As per Revanth Reddy, the Congress would win more than 80 seats at the new government’s 1st Cabinet meeting. Exit polls indicated a major Congress victory in Telangana. Shashi Tharoor referenced South 1st exit poll predictions, which predicted that their party win with 62-72 seats, BRS would come in 2nd with 35-56 seats, AIMIM would come in 3rd with 6-7 seats and BJP would come in 4th with 3-8 seats.

He elected MLA’s resolution authorizing AICC to nominate the leader to become the Chief Minister of Telangana. He became the 2nd CM of Telangana when he took oath as the CM on 7th December 2023.
